Day 1:  Drive and set up camp:  Caesar Creek State Park (Waynesville, OH)

 

Day 2:  

Morning:  Carillon Historical Park (Dayton, OH)

Afternoon:  National Museum of the United States Air Force (Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH)

Camp:  Caesar Creek State Park (Waynesville, OH)

 

 

Day 3:

Morning:  Henry Ford Museum (Detroit, MI)

Afternoon:  Drive and set up camp:  Burt Lake State Park (Indian River, MI)

 

Day 4:

Drive to Mackinaw

9 am Ferry to Mackinac Island (goes under bridge)

Morning:  Fort Mackinac

Afternoon:  bike/hiking trails Mackinac National Park (had to abort)

Evening:  Sault Ste. Marie Locks/Museum

Late Evening:  Drive and set up camp:  Bewabic State Park (Crystal Falls, MI)

 

Day 5: 

Drive and set up camp:  Camp Ripley DeParcq Woods Campground (Little Falls, MN)

Evening:  Hike along Mississippi

 

Day 6:  

Drive Bismarck, ND – meet relatives for lunch

Drive and set up camp:  Buffalo Gap Campground (Medora, ND)

 

Day 7:  

Drive and set up camp:  Buffalo Crossing RV Park (West Yellowstone, MT)

 

Day 8:

Yellowstone (South Loop)

Camp:  Buffalo Crossing RV Park (West Yellowstone, MT)

 

Day 9:

Yellowstone (South Loop)

Camp:  Buffalo Crossing RV Park (West Yellowstone, MT)

Day 10:

Drive and set up camp with relatives (Bozeman, MT)

 

Day 11:

Yellowstone (North Loop)

Camp: with relatives (Bozeman, MT)

​

Day 12:

Yellowstone (North Loop)

Camp: with relatives (Bozeman, MT)

​

Day 13:

Museum of the Rockies (Bozeman, MT)

Bear Watching

Camp: with relatives (Bozeman, MT)

Day 14:

Drive Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument (near Hardin, MT)

Drive and set up camp:  Three Flags RV Park (Black Hawk, SD)

 

Day 15: (This is what we did, but I wouldn’t recommend this order.)

Mount Rushmore

Crazy Horse

Hike Custer State Park

 

Day 16:

Needles Highway Scenic Drive

Jewel Cave National Park

Four Mile Old West Town Museum

Drive and set up camp: Lake Vermillion Recreation Area (Canistota, SD)

 

Day 17:

Drive and set up camp:  Fairport Recreation Area (Muscatine, IA)

 

Day 18:  

Drive – camp at rest stop

 

Day 19:

Drive and arrive HOME!
